Prepare To Be Scared in a Fun Way

Hey folks! Since I Kickstartered Broken Luck I've been pretty busy.  First launching SKYREALMS, a big big project that is about to be fulfilled/released. And opening a store/publishing house: The Lost Bay Studio. At the core of the Studio activity is putting together kickass TTRPG bundles. The FEAR BUNDLE is the 3rd bundle we release, and I think you might dig its dark, weird vibe.

Pre-orders for the FEAR BUNDLE are open on The Lost Bay Studio store until February 23 and the bundle is 15% OFF. GIMME THE BUNDLE

What Is the Fear Bundle?

A collection of horror indie tabletop RPG supplements from some of the most creative designers, both veterans and first-time authors. We’re talking about 11 supplements packaged in a beautiful black folder. The bundle’s modular structure allows you to build your own gaming experience and play for weeks with your group or solo. Survive in a city ravaged by kaijus, run for your life in a zombie-infested world, fight your way out of corporate horror or overcome a suburban nightmare. These, and many more horrific adventures wait for you in the Fear Bundle.

SKYREALMS, a system-neutral fantasy RPG and coloring book set among mist-shrouded floating islands.
almost 2 years ago – Sun, May 01, 2022 at 07:23:29 PM

We are thrilled to introduce SKYREALMS, a system-neutral fantasy tabletop RPG setting AND coloring book.

Journey through the mists, explore magical floating islands, and meet the strange creatures that live there.

Brought to you by the teams behind BROKEN LUCK, Where the Wheat Grows Tall, The Lost Bay Podcast, and The Perpetual Broth!!

Don't miss our exclusive, handcrafted Full Game Pack.

Explore a mysterious new world with the zine, the almanac, and the map. There’s more? There’s more! With the adventure Starter Cards, adventure pamphlet, and solo gaming cards you can craft your own RPG experience as you color.

Follow the project on KICKSTARTER to be notified on launch day!

Brought to you by IKO (Broken Luck, The Lost Bay Podcast), Evlyn Moreau (Where The Wheat Grows Tall) and an international crew of writers and artists. Guest contributors include Emiel Boven (DURF, The Electrum Archive), Armanda Haller (Paranoid Android, Log Lady), and Bordercholly (Knights of the Road), with editing by Sam Leigh (Anamnesis). We’re so excited to have so much knowledge, talent, and passion from across the TTRPG scene.

If you backed BROKEN LUCK you’ll dig SKYREALMS. It’s a wild floating sky trip through magical lands and alongside weird and beautiful creatures. Encounter them as you carve your own journey through the SKYREALMS, or play as them and discover their unique and mysterious cultures.

SKYREALMS is compatible with any game system, including OSR, Troika, D&D, Med Fantasy and Space Fantasy games. The tables and lore are designed to provide a flexible storytelling experience that can be tailored to your system and your style.

SKYREALMS will be available in two editions: Standard, and Full Game Pack. The Full Game Pack will be 100% printed and handcrafted at the L.F. OSR zine shop in San Diego (we’re so excited to work with them!).

You can customize your zine to fit your setting or just chill out and see where Evlyn’s beautiful art takes you.

SKYREALMS is a labor of love from writers, designers, artists and producers across the TTRPG scene. It came about because we wanted to make something a little bit cool, a little bit weird, and a little bit zen - and now it has come together and we can’t wait to share it with you and hear your stories.

Make sure you don’t miss launch day, follow the project on KICKSTARTER.

It's a wrap! and what's next?
about 2 years ago – Sun, Mar 27, 2022 at 04:12:10 AM

It's a wrap!

It’s done, all rewards have been shipped, the last batch was shipped last week for the Canadian backers. So once again let me thank you warmly for the support you gave to this zine of odd pissed-off immortals and angry kid gods.

That said, I am aware that some of you might still be waiting for the postperson to knock on their door and deliver the rewards. You probably know that the global distribution chain is disrupted as ever for various reasons and that can lead to delays and congestion on some routes/areas. If that is the case for you drop me an email at [email protected] we’ll take care of that!

Game reports!

I’vestarted to receive reports from Broken Luck game sessions, and I’ve got some images too! Here are two characters drawn by @Not4Ghoul_ On the left you have a fortune teller, and on the right a god in their cosmic kingdom! The god character has been co-drawn by @SwordToad. It’s so cool to see what players make with the zine. If you have played Broken Luck yourselves, I’d love to hear from you. Drop me an email, DM or join The Lost Bay discord server, there are kind folks there, and we are scheming cool tabletop role-playing shenanigans.

The Lost Bay - First Look

I’m already working on two new zine projects. As they involve a fair amount of weirdness I think you might be interested.

The first one is The Lost Bay - First Look. A suburban 90s horror game. You play as teens/young adults fighting pure evil. It’s my passion project. I’ve been working on this game for years. And it’s very much inspired by the super weird small coastal town where I grew up. Think ghosts, zombie cats, skate parks, serial killers, a magnificent beach, a filthy town, magical prayers, all inspired by true stories.

I plan to release The Lost Bay in two steps. In late spring/early summer I’ll release the First Look edition. All you need to run a game, core rules, a taste of the setting, a peek into its weird world. I might do a free digital version, I'm still figuring out stuff. And later on, hopefully in the second semester this year, I’ll crowdfund the Extended edition, a big book, the deep dive into The Lost Bay and its uncanny places, folks and stories. I'll send a newsletter when the game is about to be released,  if you want to be notified you can subscribe here.

The First Look edition is illustrated by Evangeline Gallagher, an incredible artist from Baltimore, and layout is by Gontijo, you probably know them, a super talented Brazilian artist. The crazy character sheet is by Bruno Prosaiko. I’m running playtests of the game almost every Sunday, and also I’ll be helping a few GMs to try the early version of the game too, so lmk if you are interested.

Skyrealms

Second project is a bestiary/setting/coloring book. A zine you can both use to play RPGs, or just to draw alone or with your kids. It’s game neutral, meaning the mechanics allow you to use the NPCs with any kind of game system you like, Troika, or any other OSR-like game. It’s mainly illustrated by Evlyn Moreau, an awesome Canadian artist, and some extra illustrations (a coloring foldable map) will be done by Bordercholly. Here are some super early drafts/tests.

So bottom line, I’m super grateful for the amazing support you gave to Broken Luck, and I’m working hard to release more stuff, with cool art, and weird settings. And again I’d love to get to know you better folks, so drop me a line or join the party at The Lost Bay discord server.

I wish you all a great Sunday.

Cheers,

Iko
